Sometimes when God tells us that he has great plans for us, we respond, “Oh, I don’t know, Lord.” Yet when Satan comes to us and says, “I’m going to destroy you,” we automatically think it could be true.
Whom do you believe? Do you believe the lies of the enemy or the truth of God? We must come to the point where we say, “No, God has a calling on my life and a higher plan. I’m going to stand firm, steadfast, and immovable by the grace of God. By his power that works mightily in me, just as Paul said in Scripture” (see Colossians 1:29).
You do not stand by your own might or power but by the Spirit of God who lives within you. Through him, you can walk in boldness and confidence, firmly grounded in the truth of who you are in Christ. You can trust his purpose and plan, which he has prepared for you.
Today, you may feel like you are standing at the edge of a cliff, overwhelmed, ready to fall over. Maybe your emotions are stretched thin, and you feel like you are nearing rock bottom. You may feel the strain of a struggling marriage, the demands of your job, or the crush of an addiction. You find yourself crying out to God, “Lord, is there any way out of this?” Yet the bigger question is, “Lord, how do I reach a place of unwavering trust and faith in you?”
Friend, God’s Word provides the answer. Hold on to this promise in Scripture: For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11, ESV).
